DESCRIPTION:Gilroy Library Teen Advisory BoardApplication (2025–2026 Term)\nThe Teen Advisory Board (TAB) for the Gilroy Library will meet with the Teen Services Librarian every monthto provide ideas and input about library programs and services for teens. TAB members work on specialprojects throughout the year with guidance from the Teen Services Librarian. TAB members serve for oneschool-year term and may reapply each year. \nTime spent in meetings and on projects may be claimed as community service hours for school. Serving on theTAB is also a great chance to develop project management and leadership skills\, and the experience can beincluded on a resume or applications for colleges\, jobs\, and scholarships. \nBefore applying\, please review the requirements below. \nRequirements: \n\nMembers MUST\nlive in Gilroy or San Martin\, and/or attend school with Gilroy Unified School District.\nMembers MUST\nmaintain a GPA of at least 2.0 while serving on the TAB.\nMembers MUST\nbe at least 14 years old and no older than 18.\nMembers MUST\nbe in high school (grades 9–12).\nMembers MUST attend a minimum of 8 out of 9 monthly TAB meetings per term year.\n\nMeetings will be held on the second Wednesday of every month at 5:00PM\, beginning on Wednesday\, September 10th. \nApplications must be received before 5:00PM on Sunday\, August 31st to be considered for the 2025–26 term. Applicants may be invited to interview or asked to provide additional information or documents. Approved applicants will be contacted by Wednesday\, September 3rd. \nApplications are available online here\, or you can pick up a printed one at the Library. Return your completed and signed application to the second-floor Information Desk at the Gilroy Library.

SUMMARY:Teen Volunteer Sign-Ups for High School Seniors
DESCRIPTION:Need community service hours for school? The next volunteer session at the Gilroy Library will be from September through November. Teens can sign up for a weekly 2-hour shift which they must attend for the whole 3-month session. \nThis first week of sign-ups (August 18 – 24) is reserved for those entering their senior year (12th grade) of high school this fall. Sign-ups will open up to all other grades (ages 14 to 18) starting on August 25th. (Seniors can still sign up in the second week if they miss out on the first week.) \nTo sign up: \n\nPick up a blank application from the Gilroy Library Information Desk\, or print one and fill it out.\nBring your completed application to the Gilroy Library upstairs Information Desk during the sign-up period. No early applications accepted.\nAt that time\, you may select an available weekly shift.\n\nImportant Information: \n\nThis sign-up session is just for those currently in their senior year of high school. Sit underneath the trees in Pioneer Park and listen to the jazz stylings of renowned Bay Area trumpeter Dave Rocha and his quartet. \nPlease bring your own chairs and blankets.  \nDave Rocha has been performing with his jazz group for more than 20 years. He has played in a number of major cities\, including New York\, Los Angeles\, San Francisco and Seattle. His band plays an eclectic mix of jazz standards (by Miles Davis\, Wayne Shorter\, John Coltrane\, etc.)\, “pop” tunes (Cole Porter\, Gershwin and Jobim) and original compositions. This covers a wide variety of styles from up-tempo bebop\, “modal” tunes\, swing and blues\, to Latin jazz\, ballads and jazz waltz. \n \nThis event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Mountain View Library.
