DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness meditation is a wonderful way to develop clarity\, discipline\, and perspective as well as improve your mental and physical health. Join online sessions with Phuong Pham\, a Buddhist nun experienced in the practice of meditation. Each session is 45 minutes of meditating together followed by 15 minutes of group sharing and Q&A led by Phuong. The group sharing and Q&A is a valuable part of the process\, so participants can reflect on the meditation session together and build community. It is open to all levels of experience. \nRegistration is required to receive the Zoom link. Please make sure your email address is entered correctly. SUMMARY:Music at Kohl Mansion presents Prague's Bennewitz Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Music at Kohl Mansion\, a nonprofit organization based in Burlingame\, brings us the Bennewitz Quartet from Prague. Founded in 1998\, the Bennewitz Quartet is one of the top ensembles on the international chamber music scene. After winning two prestigious competitions – Osaka Chamber Music and Festa 2005\, and Premio Paolo Borciani\, Italy 2008\, the quartet quickly gained the acclaim of the critics. The ensemble has received various awards and in 2019 won the “Classic Prague Award” for the Best Chamber Music Performance of the year. Last season\, the Bennewitz Quartet returned to several European venues\, including Wigmore Hall London\, Laeiszhalle Hamburg\, and Konzerthaus Berlin\, performing the string quintets by Dvořák and Brahms with guest violist Veronika Hagen. The quartet performed in the United States\, making its debut in Providence\, Houston\, and Tucson\, and returned to the Music and Beyond Festival in Ottawa and The Harvard Musical Association. In the Czech Republic\, the Bennewitz Quartet presented the final concerts of Dvořák’s string quartets as part of the Dvořák Prague Festival. \nRegistration is not required but you will receive a reminder email if you do register. In the next class\, Descriptively Yours\, Part II\, Carole will build on Part I by delving further into the description of the senses by adding the purpose of description in scenes and characters. Also\, what is the purpose of metaphor? Simile? Hyperbole? Or personification? \nCarole Bumpus began writing about food and travel when she stumbled upon the amazing stories of women and war in France. Her books\, A Cup of Redemption\, Recipes for Redemption\, Searching for Family and Traditions at the French Table\, Books I and II\, A September to Remember: Searching for Culinary Pleasures at the Italian Table\, and Adventures on Land & Sea: Searching for Culinary Pleasures in Provençe are available in our catalog. DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness meditation is a wonderful way to develop clarity\, discipline\, and perspective as well as improve your mental and physical health. Join online sessions with Phuong Pham\, a Buddhist nun experienced in the practice of meditation. Each session is 45 minutes of meditating together followed by 15 minutes of group sharing and Q&A led by Phuong. The group sharing and Q&A is a valuable part of the process\, so participants can reflect on the meditation session together and build community. It is open to all levels of experience. \nRegistration is required to receive the Zoom link. Please make sure your email address is entered correctly.
