DESCRIPTION:Did you know the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) treats sick\, injured and orphaned wildlife from San Francisco\, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties at the new Wildlife Care Center in Saratoga? \nJoin us for a presentation about Saratoga’s Wildlife Care Center. Learn about wildlife programs that treat these animals using state-of-the-art facilities\, eventually releasing them back into their natural habitats. We will address questions on these topics during the session: \n● The origins of PHS/SPCA’s rehabilitation services for sick\, injured and orphaned wildlife; \n● From where and why we receive wildlife patients; \n● The rehabilitation process; \n● What to do if you encounter a wild animal that needs help; \n● Some common native plants and wildlife in the area; \n● Our conservation efforts to boost the populations of at-risk wildlife species; \n● Steps you can take to discourage wildlife from settling in around your home; \n● How you can get involved in caring for wild animals in the community; and \n● Our Wildlife Education and Outreach programs. \n \nElizabeth Didato\, speaker and Wildlife Educator for the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA\, earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies with a focus on conservation. As a student she worked with domestic and wild animals. After college\, Elizabeth worked with wildlife for 15+ years\, including roles in zoos and wildlife rehabilitation. She went on to become a classroom teacher\, teaching middle and high school science. She joined the PHS/SPCA team in 2024 to develop the Wildlife Education Program.
