SUMMARY:Mindfulness Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Come and improve your mental and physical health in mindfulness meditation sessions led by Phuong Pham. Each session is 45 minutes of sitting and/or walking meditation followed by 15 minutes of group sharing and Q&A. It is open to all levels of experience and no registration is required. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats and/or meditation cushions. Chairs are available for those who do not bring them. \nPhuong is a Buddhist nun experienced in leading mindfulness meditation. Daniel will introduce audience members to the art of shadow puppetry (including numerous puppets from Southeast Asia)\, then perform shadow puppetry versions of best-loved stories\, including wintry folktales. The audience will be encouraged to participate throughout the program\, and volunteers will be invited up to the shadow screen to help perform the shows. See you in the land of shadows! \nPerformer Biography: \nDaniel Barash\, based in Berkeley\, CA\, has presented hundreds of shadow puppetry assembly programs across the United States. His performances are engaging\, participatory\, and fun! Daniel is a Teaching Artist with Focus 5\, Inc.\, and is one of 50 Kennedy Center National Workshop Leaders. He travels around the country sharing his love of shadow puppetry with both educators and students.
