As a leader\, Dr. Johnson is a fierce advocate for health equity\, healing justice\, equitable community engagement\, and radical imagination. \nDr. Johnson is Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff in the Division of Equity & Inclusion at UC Berkeley. They are also the Founding Director of the Justice Fleet\, a mobile social justice museum that fosters healing through art dialogue and play\, and co-founder of The Institute for Healing Justice and Equity\, where they specialize in humanizing equity and exploring the relationship between healing justice and equity. \n \nAs a former award-winning Professor of Communication and Social Justice at Saint Louis University\, Amber has earned a number of awards rooted in their research\, art\, and activism. Notable awards include the Golden Anniversary Monograph Award\, the Norm White Award for Engaged Scholarship and Service\, the Dr. Terry Leet Researcher Award from Generate Health for scholarship that centers social justice\, the Faculty Excellence Award for Diversity and Social Justice\, a Presidential citation for social justice work within and beyond the Communication discipline\, and several publication awards. \n \nDr. Johnson’s forthcoming book\, A Great Inheritance\, is a young adult fiction novel and memoir project written to help people better support and love gender expansive people. DESCRIPTION:Join XFYD Chess Class at Milpitas Library for a fun and interactive experience that helps children develop strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Open to all skill levels\, these sessions offer expert guidance in a supportive and engaging environment. This class series is for students in first to fifth grade.  \n \nThis program is presented by our partners at XFYD Bay Area – Milpitas High School and is a 14-part weekly class series. Registration is required and covers all 14 sessions. Registrants who miss the first two sessions will be removed from the program to allow waitlisted students to participate. There are no classes on 11/26/25\, 12/24/25\, and 12/31/25.
