DESCRIPTION:Singer & Guitarist Diana Gameros performs a unique selection of songs from the Latin American and Mexican tradition that celebrate nature\, family\, home\, and love. \nBringing these themes to life is Diana Gameros\, a singer\, songwriter\, and composer whose personal story echoes the essence of her music. Born and raised in Juárez\, México\, Diana immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Over the past decade in the Bay Area\, she has released two albums of original songs written in both Spanish and English. Her work has been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series and profiled in a 2020 documentary film by KQED. Through evocative storytelling centered on family\, migration\, and belonging\, Diana has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Joan Baez\, Natalia Lafourcade\, and the San Francisco Symphony. In 2023\, she received a Music Award Grant from the Gerbode Foundation to record a new album at Women’s Audio Mission studio in San Francisco\, set for release in 2025. \nThis program is part of the Santa Clara County Library District’s Hispanic Heritage Month.  \nFor accessibility accommodations (ex. We will be using python IDLE\, a free\, browser-based programming environment. By the end of this course\, you will walk away with the confidence to write basic code using Python. We will discuss the history of the 3 Sisters planting\, and how it is a sustainable and efficient way to grow vegetables. SUMMARY:Celebrating the Moon: Mid-Autumn Festival
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night and the Moon Festival at West Valley Branch Library! We will have activity stations for families to engage in while they wait for their number to be called to have 1 balloon creation per child (child must be present) provided by Magic Bubbles and Balloons. While supplies last\, our activities will include using cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies and plastic knives or spoons to show the different phases of the moon and time to browse through library books about the moon or the Mid-Autumn Festival\, \n\nRecommended for families. This program was generously sponsored by the Friends of the West Valley Branch Library. \nFree. One balloon creation per child\, who must be present with a numbered ticket. Tickets for balloons are limited to 50 and can be picked up at the Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program. Families who want to visit our activity stations without getting a balloon do not need tickets to attend\, but space may be limited.  \nADA Accommodation Requests

SUMMARY:Immigration Rapid Responder Volunteer Training
DESCRIPTION:This training will equip participants with knowledge and tools to serve as legal observers to verify and document ICE activity in the local community\, to provide accompaniment support\, and to help ensure that immigrants’ rights are protected. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and join a network of volunteers coordinated by the Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network\, who will be conducting this training. \nThe Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network is a County-funded community defense project developed to protect immigrant families and coordinates the 24/7 Rapid Response Hotline in Santa Clara County which provides emergency legal support to individuals who are detained and other assistance to their families.  \nRegistration is optional. If you register\, you will receive an email reminder for the training.
