SUMMARY:STEAM Sunday: Leaf Art & Science
DESCRIPTION:‘Tis the season for falling leaves\, but have you ever inspected a leaf up close? What’s it made of? Why do they change colors and fall off trees anyway? \nExplore these questions and more while creating leaf art in this STEAM Sunday. Through leaf rubbings we’ll be able to learn about and capture the parts of a leaf. We’ll also discuss the leaf (and tree) life cycle. Then we’ll creatively\, and colorfully!\, “preserve” leaves to decorate our homes with a simple “stained glass” leaf art project. \nCome with your curious and creative mind and join the fall fun! \nThrough a brief lecture and hands-on experimenting and creating\, STEAM Sundays allow participants to learn about science\, technology\, engineering\, and math while working on an art project. After learning about a topic\, the experimentation and note taking parts of the scientific process will be conducted through a craft. Everyone will go home with a finished project and better understand of each chosen topic. \nBest for youth ages 5-12. Younger participants may need the assistance of family members or older siblings. \nRegistration requested. \nADA Accommodation Requests \n————————————————————————–¡Los mundos de la ciencia y arte se juntan en domingos STEAM! \nArte y Ciencia con Hojas¡Es la temporada de hojas que caen! SUMMARY:Figure Drawing Workshop: Drawing with Time
DESCRIPTION:Join CASP artist Sang-ah Choi for “5\,4\,3\,2\,1 – Drawing with Time” \nIn this one-hour workshop\, participants will practice figure drawing with pencils in timed cycles of 5\, 4\, 3\, 2\, and 1 minutes. The session begins with a short demonstration on pencil line\, focusing on variations in pressure and speed. Participants then take turns modeling\, observing one another\, and drawing together in rhythm with the time sequence. \nThe workshop starts slowly to allow everyone to settle in\, then gradually becomes faster and freer\, encouraging lively movement of lines. Through three full cycles\, participants will create 15–20 drawings. The focus is not on accuracy\, but on drawing freely and spending time together. This workshop is open to adults of all levels; no prior drawing experience is required.
