SUMMARY:Introduction to Speech and Debate
DESCRIPTION:Students in Grades 3-5 are invited to learn and practice the elements of speech and debate through hands-on activities. What is “speech and debate” and why do we do it? Elements such as tone of voice\, body posture\, hand gestures\, and eye contact will be demonstrated and practiced\, helping improve speeches and debates. The final session will include a mini debate tournament with some time for reflection and Q and A. This series is presented by teen volunteers with speech and debate/public speaking experience. \nFree. Limited to 16 students. Participants are expected to attend all sessions. Recommended for 3rd-5th grade students. Priority will be given to registrants followed by online waitlist\, then walk-ins if there is space. If anyone registered or waitlisted does not show up by 4:05pm on the first day\, their spot may be given to someone else for the series.  \nIf you are on the waitlist or a walk-in hoping to get a spot\, please try to come a few minutes early on the first day to see if any open spots remain. Registrants will be checked-in first at the Community Room door and allowed until 4:05 to arrive. Anyone registered or waitlisted who does not attend by 4:05pm on the first day will give up their spot for the series.  \nADA Accommodation Requests

Hoy en día\, hay numerosas personas que hablan náhuatl en el Área de la Bahía. \nEste programa será una introducción a la lengua\, la cultura y la historia del náhuatl. Aprenderemos habilidades para mantener una conversación básica en náhuatl y hablaremos sobre escritores y artistas que usan el náhuatl para la expresión creativa. My parents worked at IBM and would always bring home new components.
