Led by a certified master instructor\, this engaging class teaches self-defense techniques while exploring a powerful part of Filipino heritage.  \nFilipino martial arts—known as arnis\, eskrima\, or kali—originated centuries ago and were developed for practical defense using sticks\, blades\, and empty-hand techniques. These fighting styles have been passed down through generations and are recognized as the national martial art and sport of the Philippines.  \nParticipants will build coordination\, confidence\, and cultural awareness through movement and guided instruction. DESCRIPTION:Every now and then\, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. You can volunteer away your library fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment. \nVolunteers will be responsible for: \n\nBook cover cleaning – Use disinfecting wipes to reinvigorate dingy books.\nBookshelves – Dust shelves and organize library materials.\nDeep cleaning computers – Use disinfecting wipes to disinfect computer mice and mouse pads and compressed air to remove any dust particles or debris.\nMaterial inspection – Check books for torn pages\, pen marks\, etc.\n\nThis is a perfect opportunity for families interested in volunteering away their library fines. \nDetails and Requirements: \n\nMust be able to commit to the full session\nAt this event\, we kindly ask that only families participate as volunteers.
