SUMMARY:Music at Kohl Mansion presents Prague's Bennewitz Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Music at Kohl Mansion\, a nonprofit organization based in Burlingame\, brings us the Bennewitz Quartet from Prague. Founded in 1998\, the Bennewitz Quartet is one of the top ensembles on the international chamber music scene. After winning two prestigious competitions – Osaka Chamber Music and Festa 2005\, and Premio Paolo Borciani\, Italy 2008\, the quartet quickly gained the acclaim of the critics. The ensemble has received various awards and in 2019 won the “Classic Prague Award” for the Best Chamber Music Performance of the year. Last season\, the Bennewitz Quartet returned to several European venues\, including Wigmore Hall London\, Laeiszhalle Hamburg\, and Konzerthaus Berlin\, performing the string quintets by Dvořák and Brahms with guest violist Veronika Hagen. The quartet performed in the United States\, making its debut in Providence\, Houston\, and Tucson\, and returned to the Music and Beyond Festival in Ottawa and The Harvard Musical Association. In the Czech Republic\, the Bennewitz Quartet presented the final concerts of Dvořák’s string quartets as part of the Dvořák Prague Festival. \nRegistration is not required but you will receive a reminder email if you do register. DESCRIPTION:Have fun\, learn\, and get a sweet treat for Halloween! The Julia Robinson Math Festival is an event that provides students with fun and meaningful math experiences to develop their mathematical confidence\, joy\, and problem solving skills. At the festival\, there will be a variety of play-based\, manipulative-based math puzzles and games for students in grades K-8 and their parents/caregivers. Each activity will be led by at least one trained volunteer who will introduce the activity and keep students engaged and excited as they explore. The festival will be open for 1.5 hours\, during which time\, kids will get to explore the festival at their own pace\, choosing where they want to go and for how long they want to do each activity. \nFree. No registration required. Space may be limited due to multiple game stations. To prevent damaging festival materials\, candy will be given to attendees as they leave. (Candy will be available while it lasts and may contain chocolate\, dairy\, gluten\, and/or nuts.) Participants can come and go during the event.
