DESCRIPTION:We are offering this Zoom presentation to help families of high school juniors\, sophomores and freshmen better understand the college admissions process and how to successfully navigate the changing landscape. \nWe will discuss current college admissions trends\, admissions strategies\, the changing test-optional environment\, the importance of researching and visiting colleges to find schools that can be a good fit\, a timeline and other action steps to make this fall productive and help reduce the stress around the college admissions process. \nWe’ll examine the holistic admissions review process\, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. \nWe will also discuss the importance of community service\, how it can provide an opportunity for meaningful experiences\, personal growth and a way to showcase a student’s character. SUMMARY:Edenvale Teens Reach Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Edenvale will be hosting in-person Teens Reach meetings and will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month from 4-5pm in the Teen Room.  \nTeens Reach is the youth council for the San José Public Library\, providing a key way for young adults to build their leadership skills by developing and participating in library activities\, as well as becoming library advisors and advocates. \nThis is a leadership and volunteer service group for teens ages 13-18.   \nJoin us and represent the teen community at your local library\, meet other teens\, take part in decorating the teen room\, and learn of other volunteer opportunities at SJPL.   \nIf you are new to volunteering with the San Jose Public Library\, please visit the Teens Reach: Community Service webpage for more information and make sure to create your online volunteer account (click “Sign Me Up” under Edenvale Branch Library). \nADA Accommodation Requests

DESCRIPTION:Every now and then\, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. You can volunteer away your library fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment. \nVolunteers will be responsible for: \n\nBook cover cleaning – Use disinfecting wipes to reinvigorate dingy books.\nBookshelves – Dust shelves and organize library materials.\nDeep cleaning computers – Use disinfecting wipes to disinfect computer mice and mouse pads and compressed air to remove any dust particles or debris.\nMaterial inspection – Check books for torn pages\, pen marks\, etc.\n\nThis is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering away their library fines. \nDetails and Requirements: \n\nMust be able to commit to the full session\nAnyone under the age of 15 must volunteer alongside a parent/guardian\nNo experience or special skills necessary\nTraining and supplies will be provided\n\nADA Accommodation Requests
