Born and raised in Juárez\, México\, Diana immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Over the past decade in the Bay Area\, she has released two albums of original songs written in both Spanish and English. Her work has been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series and profiled in a 2020 documentary film by KQED. Through evocative storytelling centered on family\, migration\, and belonging\, Diana has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Joan Baez\, Natalia Lafourcade\, and the San Francisco Symphony. In 2023\, she received a Music Award Grant from the Gerbode Foundation to record a new album at Women’s Audio Mission studio in San Francisco\, set for release in 2025. \nThis program is part of the Santa Clara County Library District’s Hispanic Heritage Month.  \nFor accessibility accommodations (ex. DESCRIPTION:Come and improve your mental and physical health in mindfulness meditation sessions led by Phuong Pham. Each session is 45 minutes of sitting and/or walking meditation followed by 15 minutes of group sharing and Q&A. It is open to all levels of experience and no registration is required. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mats and/or meditation cushions. Chairs are available for those who do not bring them. \nPhuong is a Buddhist nun experienced in leading mindfulness meditation. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and hands-on program series that explores the exciting worlds of science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics. Each week we will explore a subject through a unique activity that sparks curiosity and brings the topic to life through making and experimenting. Each week of STEM brings a new set of tasks to challenge us.   \nThis week\, we will be creating catapults.  We will learn how the medieval machines worked\, and how our smaller versions are similar to the bigger ones\, including using forces to launch materials (but not Cows!) into the air. \nSessions are not related\, so participants should register for EACH session they wish to attend. \nFree.
