Writers Helping Writers: Descriptively Yours with Carole Bumpus

October 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

In Literature, description refers to the language used to bring attributes of subjects to the reader’s mind. In the next class, Descriptively Yours, Part II, Carole will build on Part I by delving further into the description of the senses by adding the purpose of description in scenes and characters. Also, what is the purpose of metaphor? Simile? Hyperbole? Or personification?

Carole Bumpus began writing about food and travel when she stumbled upon the amazing stories of women and war in France. Her books, A Cup of RedemptionRecipes for RedemptionSearching for Family and Traditions at the French Table, Books I and II, A September to Remember: Searching for Culinary Pleasures at the Italian Table, and Adventures on Land & Sea: Searching for Culinary Pleasures in Provençe are available in our catalog. A retired family therapist, Bumpus lives in Redwood Shores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Carole’s books have won rave reviews from Booklist, Kirkus, Foreword Reviews, Midwest Book Review, The Columbia Review and Fra Noi magazine, and awards from Independent Publisher Book Awards and American Book Fest.

California Writers Club-San Francisco Peninsula Branch members give presentations on the third Thursday of the month for anyone interested in writing. Writers Helping Writers resume for their third year giving excellent advice and pointers on writing, publishing marketing and more.
