Letter Locking
December 16, 2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth. Alive during the Regency Era, correspondence was sealed with letterlocking. Letterlocking is the historical practice of folding and sealing a letter to create its own envelope. Envelopes were not yet in use due to the high cost of paper and postage.
Join us as we explore various forms of letterlocking and wax seals.
