Virtual Author Talk: Julia Hotz
Kick off the new year with a virtual conversation with journalist and author Julia Hotz about her groundbreaking book The Connection Cure: The Prescriptive Power of Movement, Nature, Art, Service, and Belonging. Blending science reporting, patient success stories, and personal discovery, Hotz explores the growing practice of social prescribing—where health care providers ask not “What’s the matter with you?” but “What matters to you?”
From sea-swimming lessons for depression to farm-based day care for dementia, Hotz highlights how art, nature, movement, and service are transforming health care in more than thirty countries. The Connection Cure shows how reconnecting to what matters can improve well-being, offering a hopeful path toward healing and stronger communities.
This program is part of Santa Clara County Library District’s celebration of Silicon Valley Reads.
